• Appointment length: 30–45 minutes total — 20 minutes topical numbing + 10–25 minutes treatment, depending on area size.
• Pain level: with numbing cream, 2–4 out of 10 for skin rejuvenation. Tattoo removal sessions feel sharper (4–6 out of 10) — often described as “rubber-band snaps.” Patients comparing to traditional laser hair removal generally find PicoSure Pro less intense.
• Sensation: photoacoustic clicks rather than burning heat. The “clicking” sound is the laser firing — not pain.
• Immediately after: mild redness similar to a sunburn for 4–24 hours. Pigmented spots may “frost” (whiten temporarily), which fades to a darker scab within 24–48 hours before flaking off naturally over 7–14 days.
